Критерії Вілкоксона і Манна-Уітні в педагогічних дослідженнях

Abstract

У статті розглянуто проблеми ідентифікації і обчислення критеріїв перевірки гіпотези про однорідність двох незалежних вибірок. У звʼязку з цим розглядаються погляди різних дослідників: неоднозначні назви критерію перевірки, відмінність припущень і формулювань гіпотези, нееквівалентність формул і неповнота висновків, що подаються різними авторами. Подано варіант розвʼязку вказаних проблем, наведено приклад застосування критерію в педагогічних дослідженнях. Відмічено користь розгляду теми, в першу чергу, для педагогів-гуманітаріїв. The article deals with the problems of identification and calculation of the criteria for checking the hypothesis of the homogeneity of two independent samples. The identification problem is the ambiguity of the name of these criteria. These names are Wilcoxon criterion, rank sum criterion, nonparametric sampling homogeneity criterion, inversion criterion, Wilcoxon-Mann-Whitney criterion. Wilcoxon has published a criterion for comparing two samples of the same volume. And Mann and Whitney summarized the criterion for sampling different volumes. The W-criterion of the Wilcoxon statistic is called the sum of the ranks of the elements of one of the samples. The U-criterion statistics of Mann-Whitney is related to the statistics W by the formula U = W – m (m + 1) / 2, where m is the volume of this sample. Therefore, the sameness homogeneity criterion can be called the Wilcoxon criterion. If necessary, the name can be refined. Problems in calculating the criteria are the difference between the assumptions and hypothesis, the equivalence of formulas and the incompleteness of the conclusions of various researchers. In our opinion, the researcher should: - take samples taken from one general population; - take into account alternative hypotheses; - prove the identity of the calculation formulas; - apply the Laplace function for large samples. We considered an example of the application of criteria in a pedagogical experiment. All this should simplify the search, calculation, and application of criteria in the organization and conduct of pedagogical research. The prospect of our next research is the further approximation of the concepts of mathematical statistics to the elements of pedagogical technologies.
