ICAO phonetic alphabet evolution

Abstract

Radio transmission involves many nationalities, more accents, transmission by voice-to-voice without face-to-face contact, technical influences, and noise. All of these mentioned caused the formation of the unified and simplified method of communication in the aviation field. The unified rules are vital for safe air traffic. One of the methods was creating a system of the phonetic alphabet. These days we have the same way of highlighting a letter if someone does not understand. We usually compare the letter to the first name. The same system avoided misunderstanding in aviation, comparing letters to words. The spelling alphabet had developed, taking many years to achieve the final table.
