Abstract: У статті виділено базові складові місій і стратегій закладів вищої освіти (ЗВО). Показано, як за допомогою цих складових представники закладу можуть сформулювати його місію і стратегію, які б відображали його унікальність, були взаємопов’язаними і служили підґрунтям для цілей освітніх програм, за якими відбувається освітня діяльність закладу. The mission and strategy of the higher education institution are usually reflected in its charter. To formulate a mission briefly, figuratively, uniquely is quite difficult. During the accreditation examinations, it was found that the formulation of the mission and / or strategy is sometimes absent or is so general that it is impossible to see their uniqueness. The problem of uncertainty of the socially significant mission and strategy of the higher education institution, their weak connection or lack of connection with educational programs does not allow to clearly articulate the competencies of higher education graduates. As a result of the study of missions and strategies of famous companies and organizations, we have identified their basic components. We have shown how with the help of these components, representatives of the higher education institution can: - analyze the formulation of missions and strategies of well-known companies, organizations, bodies; - define the components and procedures of actions related to the development of the concepts of mission and strategy of the higher education institution; - to formulate in a concise and figurative form the mission and strategy of the institution, which would reflect its uniqueness, would be interconnected and would serve as a basis for the purposes of educational programs under which are the educational activities of the institution. This is of practical importance for the application of criteria for assessing the quality of educational programs under which the educational activity of the institution takes place and, thus, to obtain a close link between the expected learning outcomes and the needs and interests of society.
