Застосування методу case-study для підвищення ефективності самостійної англомовної підготовки авіаційних фахівців

Abstract

У статті висвітлюється питання доцільності застосування методу case-study на заняттях англійської мови для підвищення ефективності самостійної англомовної підготовки авіаційних фахівців. Авторами розглядається сутність методу та практична ефективність його застосування, а також наведені приклади кейсів для курсантів пілотів, що застосовуються на уроках англійської мови. Дійшли до висновку, що метод case-study підвищує ефективність самостійної англомовної підготовки майбутніх авіаційних фахівців, мотивує їх до самостійного поглиблення знань з різних дисциплін, спонукаючи до пошуку необхідної інформації. Застосування кейс методу на уроках англійської мови сприяє розвитку мовленнєвих навичок, монологічного та діалогічного мовлення, розширює мовний запас курсантів, актуалізує знання професійної термінології. Важливим у застосуванні кейс методу вважаємо зміцнення та поглиблення міжпредметних звʼязків, розвиток аналітичного стратегічного мислення, здатність вирішувати проблеми й робити раціональні висновки. Робота над кейсами дає змогу курсантам виявити прогалини у власних знаннях та шляхом самостійного пошуку усунути їх. The article deals with the issue of practical use of case-study method at the English lessons in order to improve the effectiveness of self-study of the English language among future aviation specialists, especially pilots. The authors define the essence of the method itself and the practical value of its use, suggest the examples of cases for teaching future aviation specialists in the classes of aviation English. The conclusion is made that the case-study method is effective enough for improving self-study of English by the future aviation specialists, their ability to add to their knowledge in professionally-oriented subjects, and independently search for relevant information. Besides, the use of case-study methods at the lessons of English improves cadetsʼ speaking skills and their ability to present monologues and dialogues on various topics, increases cadetsʼ vocabulary, leads to practical actualization of the covered professional terminology. It is also concluded in the article that listening to the authentic sources of information improves listening skills and ability to perceive and identify the variety of accents. As a result of the abovementioned research, it is considered essential to introduce case method in order to improve interdisciplinary relations of professionally-oriented subjects, to develop analytic and strategic thinking, improve the ability for problem solving and making rational conclusions in the course of training future aviation specialists. The method is also able to demonstrate practical value of theoretical subjects to the future aviation specialists, and the opportunities for their realization in various true-to-life situations. Moreover, working at a case enables future aviation specialists to define the gaps in their knowledge and close them by means of independent search.
