The subject of the study is professionally oriented verbal communication in Aviation English, which proficiency is defined as ICAO Operational Level 4. An experienced aviation specialist should be able to give orders, make requests and offer to act, give advice, ask for permission, give undertakings, provide information about the past, present and future; describe intentions, discuss necessity, capacity, feasibility and possibility, manage pilot-controller dialogues, manage air traffic sequences, acknowledge, confirm, correct, read back, assess, describe states and ongoing processes, resolve conflicts, paraphrase and clear ambiguity. Language is designed to ensure unambiguous pilot-controller communication; that is predominantly oral and most often with no visual contact. The question of communication may not only impact the safety of the travelling public and individual careers, but also potentially have considerable economic repercussions on all individuals involved in the aviation industry. Attention is drawn primarily to the Aviation English as an effective means of verbal communication, and a form of social interaction of communicative partners. In direct communication it is speaking and listening. In our research work we focus on listening that is in the specific communicative sphere of aviation with its standard forms, certain communicative situations. The article deals with the sequence of perception (listening), which is executed through anticipation mechanism, perception of the language flow, memory, logical thinking. Special attention is paid to the mechanism of comprehension, mechanism of listening memory and mechanism of prediction. The prospects of further research will be directed to study the imagination and logical thinking of future aviation specialists, as it has a great impact on the passengers’ safety, cargo transportation, etc..
